Boarding

Whether you’re leaving town for the holidays or simply need a break from it all, we’ve got your back! Pinellas Animal Hospital is proud to offer a range of boarding services, with a flexible and open schedule to meet your needs.

Pets that board with us will have the use of our spacious backyard to exercise, along with personalized care and the same tender, loving attention that we proudly extend to our own pets!

Boarding Policies and Registration

While your pet is staying with us, we assure you that he or she is receiving excellent care and our full attention. Your pet will be staying in our air‐conditioned/heated facility at all times until their exercise or potty break times. Dogs will be taken to our outdoor exercise area (weather permitting) a minimum of four times daily and cats will be let out into the cat playroom facility to exercise. If you have any questions please ask one of our helpful veterinary team members.

Vaccinations: All boarders must be current and up to date on all vaccinations in order to board at our facility. We require current boosters of Bordetella, DA2PP (distemper/parvo), Rabies, Canine Influenza (both H3N2 and H3N8 strains) and Leptosporosis vaccinations for all of our canine guests and FVRCP (feline distemper) and Rabies for all of our feline guests.

Should your pet arrive without record of a vaccine we can administer it here upon arrival. If under the care of another veterinarian there will be an exam charge and a full physical exam will be performed before the vaccination can be given. Each pet is required to have had a full physical exam by a veterinarian within the last 12 months.

Boarding Exams: All pets that do not receive an examination by the doctor will get a brief examination by a technician to ensure that there are no health problems that need to be addressed before boarding. Each pets’ weight and health condition is monitored throughout their stay with us.

Intestinal Parasite Exam: A fecal check will be performed once every six months to check for intestinal parasites. This is for the protection of your pet and to avoid exposure and infection of other pets staying at our boarding facility.

Fleas and Ticks: All pets entering our facility for overnight care will be checked for external parasites such as fleas and ticks. If a pet is found to have a problem with either one of these they will be treated at the owners’ expense. Pinellas Animal Hospital reserves the right to refuse admission in extreme cases for the protection of the other pets in our clinic.

Bathing: All dogs staying in our facility will receive a bath and brush, nail trim and ear cleanse on the day they are picked up to go home. An additional fee will be charged for this service based on the pets’ size and weight.

Bedding, food and toys: All supplies necessary for boarding are provided by the hospital. However, you are welcome to bring along your pets belongings from home as long as they are clearly labeled. We also use our own food but you may bring along their regular diet if preferred. Please note we do not feed any form of raw food diet in house.

Pick up times: Monday-Thursday pick up by 6:30pm, Friday pick up  by 5pm and Saturday pick up is between 11am-12:30pm. There are a limited amount of Sunday pickups available between 3:00pm and 5:00 pm, if scheduling for a pick up on Sunday, payment for boarding must be made in advance, as the office is technically closed at this time.

Emergency Treatment: Please be aware that some pets are under stress while away from their owners and may become ill during boarding, the most common symptom being diarrhea. The doctors at Pinellas Animal Hospital would routinely prescribe medications for this condition as they deem necessary for the duration of your pets stay at the clinic. In the event of any other treatment, emergency or otherwise we will attempt to contact you through the emergency contact number given at check in.
